Got to work on the head for my female Fell Caller Hero. My first venture into fimo and I enjoy it thoroughly. Its nice to be able to come back to something later with its heat curing.
The head so far.

Return of the Trolls
Finally working my way around to my own trolls again. With the Path of Devestation League starting, my interest was piqued with the upgradable heroes. So I decided to kick the trolls back into gear and get some much needed support in the form of the Krielstone.
To fit my salvaged, war torn trencher trolls, I decided that a big magic stone was not the most suitable. So instead I figured he should carry a huge supply crate filled with ammo, rockets, scrap parts and booze. Complete with a tanktop and signature helmet of my trolls, this guy is bringing the support for his buddies.
A lot of the bits in the crate were taken from old GW Imperial Guard weapons teams kit. A gold mine of parts indeed. Also thrown in are some ammo strap off of 40K Orks, some plasticard, mini barrels not used on my Warders, and a nomad head.
I really wanted them to feel like mercs more than true trollbloods, so the rest of the unit will be carrying weapons and parts much like Raluk Moorclaw: A few trolls have goggles, some other have plated boots, another is carrying a Cygnar 'jack arm strapped to his back. All sorts of goodies. Aslo working on some alternate weapons.
More to come soon!

Helmet Tutorial
A few people have asked for a tutorial on how to do the stahlhelm-like headgear my trolls wear.
Things you'll need:
-Sculpting tool(s) w/ flat blade and depressor ends
-Your choice of two-part sculpting putty
-Water
-Empty Mechanical Pencil
-A model
Step 1. Roll out a ball of sculpting putty, For these helmets, I use Privateers Brown/Aluminim as it retains a hard edge and is filable, though any type should do fine. The size of the ball depends on the size of the head.
Step 2. Gently press the ball on the head of the model. It should hang on the sides of the head with equal length. If the putty looks like it may be too big or small, now is the time to take it off and adjust the amount.
Step 3. Take the depressor end of your sculpting tool and flatten out the sides, front, top and back of the helm. It should somewhat resemble a koopa shell. Be sure to keep your tools wet.
Step 4: With your flat blade end (WET!), gently press in and down with the side of the tool to create a lip on the rim of the helm. This is a gradual process and is the trickiest part and may require a few do-overs the first try. Don't be afraid to pull it off and try again. Be sure to keep the lip the same thickness throughout.
Step 5: Take your mechanical pencil (make sure there is no lead in the tip) and gently press it into the sides where the temple area is to create a rivet. Before you finish up, add in any battle damage with light marks and scores with your sculpting tools (not exactos!)
Step 6: Roll out two tiny ropes of putty and press them flat on a wet surface. Allow them to cure halfway. Gently pull them up to avoid any stretching and place them on the sides underneath the rivet to create straps. If desired, press your mechanical pencil on the end of the strip to create a button/snap.
Now you done!

Full Metal Warders
Finally working on Trolls again!
A little while back I did a concept for an IKRPG character that was a stylized Trollkin Warder. It served a dual purpose though, as it shared the same aesthetic my Trollbloods have; a trench warfare salvaged look.
I finally picked up a box of Warders (after much deliberation between Scattergunners. Scattergunner offer less in the way of conversion, which is part of the hobby I love). After lamenting over mold lines, I got to work with the green stuff, giving them the helms and keffiyeh-like military scarves.
One thing that I wanted to set them apart with was their sheilds. In the concept, they had slapped together metal slabs that gave them a riot shield like look. I definitely wanted to do one like the concept out of plasticard, but I also had a Khador Devastator sheild laying around along with a Rover shield, which were perfect looks.
I also did some new weapons out of plasticard, as I couldn't stand the axes. They were just too curvy and odd, so I opted for more hard edged, brutish looking weapons. The cord on the sheilds was actually taken from the thin long part of clothing tags.
Yeh, you know that sword.
Since I had already used some 40k Ork bitz on my Bomber and Impaler, I might as well utilize the bitz I have if they fit. Having anything too identifiable would be bad, so I stuck to bullets, rockets and ammo pouches (though the rocket pack was too cool to not use.) Veteran players can probably identify what bitz are from what, but I don't think most people care.
I wanted to give them the look that they are picking up anything usable they can get their hands on and bring it back to the group.
Trying to get all my trolls painted by the 16th for a tourney, so hopefully you all should see some more updates on here soon, including my new Dozer and Smigg!
